I haven't seen any other antennas out there for are car and i believe the 07-08 antenna's are the multi purpose antennas that work for satallite and conventional. Good luck with the new head unit! They were always helpful in a search for parts. I reccommend using a relay and the remote antenna wire and 12v constant wires off the new radio harness to make this connection! I just placed a splice in the accessory +12V lead pin 2 and attached a jumper from pin 5. My 2 cents say to do the jumper while u are installing the new radio. Do I need one of these instead? Well, everything wired up and installed properly. Anything you could tell me is helpful. I have hated that ugly antenna since day one. It does not have Sirius currently, and it has the radio antenna embedded in the rear window. It didnt work while using the remote on patched into the green 12v+ accessory or the remote antenna on wire. I just want to make sure it continues to work without too much splicing, hunting, and fishing. The exposed antenna on the roof is an eye-sore and ruins the lines of an otherwise superbly styled car. Just make sure to run an with a on the amplifier turn on wire. Both harnesses have the Antenna power wire built in, and it hooks right into the stock ford chassis harness. I like the embedded antenna.
If not done this will cause problems with radio reception! Mine was built August 24th, 2006. I wish Ford would put it in the side mirrors like Chevy is doing with new vette, or at the top of the front windshield or in the rear shelf under a plastic cover. Why would Ford go from incorporating the antenna into the glass then back to putting it on the roof? In doing some research on here, it looks like the only hiccup I may run into is wiring the antenna booster that is present on the stereos with the embedded antenna. We'll see how it pans out.
